NOVEMBER

SPRING SERENADE & her breeder/ owner/ rider, Nicola Scatliffe have had a fantastic start to Spring's ridden career after being under saddle for just 9 weeks. They qualified for the Midlands Dressage Championship with excellent comments and percentage at Faldingworth. She competed in her first competition at BD Intro level, just 6 weeks under saddle and behaved beautifully, gaining more lovely comments and was 2nd.

Very Big Congratulations to
MAVERICK MACNAMARA & his recent new rider, Felix Vogg (based in Germany & riding for SUI) who were 11th at the Le Lions D'Angers Young Event Horse Championships (7 yr old section). Bred by Lincolnshire friend, Corinne Macnamara, by Medoc out of her own mare, Skippy, he was produced in Ireland before being sold to Felix Vogg. Maverick's full 5 yr old brother is for sale in Lincs - see our for sale page for more details!

OCTOBER

MISSION HILL has a new owner - congratulations to Ruth who has accquired one of the last of Medoc's crop, out of Donnerleska (Donnerschlag x Watussi) a full brother to Elite Merinka & Hey Mambo. Ruth has also put her mare in foal to Saint Malo this year, and so hopes to have two youngsters to keep her busy in 2012.

Congratulations to our Ravendale Stud bred mare, Kate McClaren, (Medoc x Pour Moi (TB) who was 2nd in the CCI* International class at Weston Park, from a class of over 90.

Two Medoc mares bred by Westoak Stud competed at the BHHS show last month. Westoak Merri and Westoak Magic both three year olds passed their studbook inspection. Merri also competed in the three year old Materiale class and Magic will be back for her performance test next year. Well done to Tonia and Sophie their owners. Also Westoak Milly by Medoc passed her studbook inspection at the Regional Hanoverian show this year. Westoak Stud have bought her back after her competition career as a broodmare. While Monty of Westoak, by Medoc, has also been out on the County show circuit collecting rosettes in the sports horse and hunter classes. Busy year for the Medoc youngsters!

SEPTEMBER

HEY MAMBO has a new owner and is ready to come out at Advanced Medium level.

AUGUST

ASTRIX WINS GOLD FOR 2ND TIME AT WORLD YOUNG HORSE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The KWPN licensed stallion, Astrix (Obelisk x Olivi) and Emmelie Scholtens won the 6 year old class at the 2011 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany on August 7. Having won the 5 year old class in 2010, Astrix completed an exciting double win. Praised by the international judging panel for his "very elegant, light-footed and elegant trot" (9.6), "regular, ground covering and relaxed walk" (9.2) and canter "clear spring and good ground-cover (8.8). The test was technically difficult for this age group with walk pirouettes, flying changes and many tempo changes.

Bred by the Ten Bosch family and from the same direct damline as our broodmare Zizitop - this is now the No.4 top Dressage bloodline in the world! This damline also includes recently KWPN licensed stallion, Uthopia, Carl Hesters sensational 2011 European Championships Gold & Silver winning horse.

Red Baron (Medoc x Lucinda 1/2 bred Hanoverian) and David Hannigan took the Individual Bronze Medal at the European Young Rider Championships at Blair Castle and helped Ireland to Team Silver in the process. A double clear helped the pair secure the bronze, whilst David's brother, Peter, also moved up the ranks to take 7th. Absolute proof that Hanoverians and dual purpose bloodlines really do work for the modern eventer (but of course the Irish are still reporting him as "Irish bred"!).

Our Oldenburg State Premium mare, Lady Nels, achieved Premium status at the recent Westphalian Grading & Show and the highest marks of the broodmares. The only one to score higher was her foal filly , Lady's Day by Diatano (Diamonit x Brentano II/ Matcho) who achieved the overall highest marks of the day and took Supreme Champion of Show. Diatano has received excellent feedback on his crop of foals and as such this season has covered approximately 150 mares. We are very proud of our "Lady's"!

Jannah's Prospect (Mai) won yearling sports horse at Derby County Show - her 2nd County win in a row! Her dam, Maybe Just Maybe also qualified for Olympia last weekend in the Veteran series and took the 1st ticket of the year!!

Oxcombe Medvind was 8th in the Burghley Young Event Horse Qualifier 2011 at Yorkshire Sporthorse Summer Show.

SOLD! Very best wishes to our 2 year old filly Moselle (Medoc x Ehrentusch/ Feuerschein 1) and her new owners - hope you have lots of good times together.

The last of our 2010 foals has arrived! Nicknamed the "The Last Drop", this lovely strong chestnut colt was born easily to Donnerleska and is a full brother to ELITE Hanoverian mare & National Dressage Championship winner, Merinka, Hey Mambo and Medonna.

Yearling, Jannah's Prospect (Medoc x Maybe Just Maybe) has had a truly super showing season so far, being second in the Sports Horse class at Staffordshires County and then winning the Riding Horse yearling and Sports Horse yearling classes at the Midland Counties Show. The judge was David Bartram and she received some fantastic comments from all. Her dam also won the Pre-Veteran class and was Reserve Champion.

Jannah's Prospect was also winner of 3 classes at Abbey dressage, Trailblazers Showing taking the two Mini Championships then Supreme in-Hand and finally Supreme of Show. She behaved brilliantly and her owners say "moves like a dream". Wonderful results!

Congratulations to Milana (Medoc x Morka - Flemmingh x Pele/ Jasper) & Amy Kisby who have this season moved up to Intermediate level eventing and gone clear XC at Brigstock International, Aston Le Walls & Burnham Market International. They also completed Burgie International * Novice.

May

The latest broodmare to join Ravendale, is the beautifully bred premium mare, Lady Nels (Don Primero x Sandro Hit/ De Niro), who decends from the renowned Oldenberg Love Story line. She has given birth to a superb bay filly by the young Westphalian stallion Diatano (Diamonit x Brentano II/ Matcho). She has the most gorgeous face and her temperament has everyone loving her completely!

Medonna, our 3 year old filly by Medoc x Donnerleska (Donnerschlag/ Watussi) has gone to a new home and we hope she brings her owners lots of joy in the future.

Thank you to all the mare owners who have already chosen to put their mare in foal to Saint Malo, we are really pleased with the number he has received to date. A note to anyone still considering their stallion for 2011, we can send out fresh chilled semen on a next day delivery service very easily, just give us a call to discuss when you may require it. Both James and Vanessa are qualified AI technicians and the semen quality is looking excellent.

A colt is born for Medoc! First time mother, Divine (Davignon x Argument) has produced a flashily marked dark colt and taken to motherhood very well.

Check out the dressage Results page from this weeks Horse & Hound, to see lovely picture of Y Matilda & Andrea Smith competing at Manor Grange stud and winning the Medium qualifier and the Advanced Medium 85, followed up by winning the Medium 63 at Northallerton EC N Yorks 8th May!
