2012 News

September

We are incrediably proud of our daughter Vanessa and our homebred gelding RS Raphael (Blue Hors Romanov x Argument/ Feinerstern) after they were placed 6th in the Shearwater Potential International Dressage Horse Championships (5 year old class) at the Espayo National Dressage Championships, Stoneleigh. He behaved impeccably for a horse that has only been on three outings in his life, taking in the big atmosphere and receiving some very nice comments from the judges.

We were also very pleased that Raphael's young half brother by Saint Malo, received a Higher First Premium at the Arena UK BEF Futurity, scoring 8.72 and a 9 from the Vets. All Saint Malo's progeny presented this year have received a Higher First Premium or a First Premium, in all three of the main disciplines, which does we feel underline his dual purpose credentials.

Most excitingly after being placed in the Young Event Horse class at Le lion d'Angers last year, this season Maverick McNamara (by Medoc X Skippy) helped Felix Vogg to win the Eventing World Cup 2012. They finished 2nd in the CIC3*-W in Strzegom (Poland), 2nd in the CIC3* in Arvielle (BEL) and 7th in the CIC3*-W Malmö (Sweden). Awesome results and congratulations to Felix and Maverick Macnamara!

August

Still in the Eventing world, Red Baron (by Medoc x Lucinda) and David Hannigan repeated their performance of last year to help the Irish team to a Silver Medal at the FEI European Young Rider Championships, Malmo, Sweden in August this year.

At Blair CCI*, Kate Maclaren (by Medoc x Bay Express TB) bred by the stud and owned by Laura Ritchie-Bland, was third with James Adams. The 11 year old mare finished on her dressage score and is established at this level. She is now being offered for sale, and James Adams considers her a future Junior Team horse.

Riders of two Medoc horses had dressage success at the Norton Heath Area Festival in Blackmore, Essex 31 Aug to 2 Sept. Amanda Edwards and Mercurey won the Advanced Medium 85 restricted and are now looking to move up to Prix St George. Sharnie Dothie has been given the ride on Julie Yeoman's mare Rhiannon V. Rhiannon had a foal by Amour G before coming back into work and Sharnie has taken on the ride from Pippa Childerhouse. The pair won the Novice 38 with "expressive medium trot and faultless counter canter" Horse and Hound 6 Sept.

July

Congratulations to Schokolade and her owner Pete Clay after gaining a BEF Dressage First Premium at Myerscough Futurity event. Schokolade is a yearling filly out of a TB mare, by Saint Malo.

It's goodbye to our Medoc x Flemmingh/ Pele 5 yr old gelding, RS Morrison, as he goes out into the big world with his new owner. We wish them the very best and please stay in touch!

Our mares are back in foal to Saint Malo, with one remaining barren to get her foaling earlier in the season next time.

June

A Red Letter day for Ravendale Stud with our homebred gelding R.S. Raphael (Romanov x Argument/ Feinerstern) and Vanessa winning the 5yr Potential International Dressage Horse qualifier at Sheepgate Premier League show June 24th. His score of 82%, which included a 9.5/ 10, was awesome and they now go to the Dressage Championships in Sept. We are particularly thrilled as he has not long been backed and this was only his second outing! He was up against some lovely horses so fingers crossed for Sept! Picture & mention in Horse & Hound too.

Congratulations to Y Matilda & Andrea Smith who enjoying more success with two wins in the Advanced Medium classes at Sheepgate Equestrian Centre, Lincs.

We have serveral young horses coming out under saddle for the first time and we are so pleased with their attitudes and performances. RS Morrison had his first outing to a dressage competition (1st June) and was second in both classes by less than 1%, ridden by Kate Johnson. Le Docteur, our young gelding by the upcoming stallion Le Noir, enjoyed two wins on his first outing and some pleasing scores with Vanessa Worthington.

All our 2012 foals have now arrived, always a relief! Two colts and three fillies with nice markings and three of them black too, we like!

April

We are really pleased with Saint Malo's crop to date, they have exquisite heads, a good length of leg, plenty of movement with spring and super temperaments.

One week old and feeling the joys of spring. Wet paddocks but not damp spirits!

Our second Saint Malo foal has safely arrived, a bay filly this time with a lovely blaze. Out of Ogarina, multi talented advanced level dressage mare with a big pop - true dual purpose capability, this foal is cute as a button and very quick to get up and going.

Hooray! Welcome to our first Saint Malo foal! A chestnut colt with a very pretty head and an interesting forehead marking. Out of Zizitop, our KWPN mare by Sir Sinclair out of a Jazz/ Aram mare. She is from the same damline as the licensed stallion, Asterix, 6yr old World Young Horse Dressage Champion.

March

Waiting in anticipation for our first Saint Malo foals to arrive!

We have a steady succession of young horses being introduced to saddle at the moment and it is so exciting to see them progressing in their training. See our For Sale page for further details of our youngsters by Medoc and other exciting sports stallions.
