MORKA'S STORY

Morka was bought by us as a three year old in Holland, where she had just been graded as a 'ster' mare. She came back to England and a few weeks later went to the British Warmblood society gradings where she had a fantastic show.

She was graded into the Select Stud Book, became the mare Grading Champion and became the Supreme Champion of the show, 1999.

She is by the world famous stallion Flemmingh out of a Pele x Jasper mare. She comes from a very well known mare lineage with top graded mares running the way through.

MORKA'S SIRELINE

Although one of the most influential dressage sires, Flemmingh carries all of the great Holstein jumping names in his pedigree. His breeding combines the blood of the French import Cor de la Bryere with the Holsteiner, Farnese, plus a double dose of Thoroughbred via Ladykiller xx. Flemmingh has been given ¨Preferent¨ status by the KWPN. This is the highest rating that a stallion can receive in Holland, indicating the highest quality and contribution to Dutch breeding.

When famed Dutch breeder, Weipke van de Lageweg, bought the bay jumper colt Flemmingh, he could not have known that the stallion would form the foundation of a whole new dressage line! Flemmingh placed 3rd in his performance test in 1990, scoring three 9s out of a possible 10, including a 9 for jumping. Flemmingh was described as having ¨fine movements, an active, roomy walk, a rich trot and a good canter. He is a careful jumper with a lot of talent. He showed to be a willing worker and never seemed to tire¨. In the jury report, Flemmingh was described as having sufficient talent in dressage and a lot of promise as a jumper. His first promotional photo showed Flemmingh over a jump. Soon the jump shot was gone and the emphasis was on Flemmingh, the dressage sire -- and with good reason.

See below picture of Flemmingh

Flemmingh has six approved sons with the KWPN, with Westenwind the most recent. The competition performances of his offspring have shown them to be truly world class. Sons Krack C and Lingh have both been key members of the Dutch National Team, with many international wins between them. Up To Date was champion of the FEI 5-year olds in the USA, as well as son Regent who won gold for the U.S. at the Pan American games in 2007. Flemmingh is the sire of many champion ster and keur mares, as well as numerous first premium foals.

His foals are very much in demand because they are very eager learners, like to work and move easily. Flemmingh's offspring are big moving, tall, athletic, and long lined horses with 3 excellent gaits and an outstanding temperament. He's known for passing on the "knee action" that makes his movement so appealing as well as the wonderful temperment.

Flemmingh currently ranks 6th in the World Dressage Rankings.

MORKA'S DAMLINE
Gamorka is by Pele, whose sire Abgar XX, is a throughbred whose line traces back, via the world-famous Hyperion xx (1930), Eclipse xx (1764) and another 16 subsequent sires, to the foundation sire of this sireline, Darley Arabian xx (1702). Abgar's damline is also interesting and traces back via 18 subsequent dams to the foundation mare of this damline, Miss Belsea xx (appr. 1750). Well over 50 approved thoroughbred sires originated from this influential damline, including the well known thoroughbred stallions for warmblood breeding, Koridon XX, damsire of the KWPN stallion of the century Nimmerdor, Rex Magna XX as well as the famous thoroughbred stallion Sans Souci II XX.

Gamorka is out of a mare by Jasper, also known as Little One, who showjumped internationally with Hugo Simon and with much success. Jasper went on to become one of the world's leading showjumping sires. Jasper's sire is Courville, who is credited with being one of the KWPN's most influential thoroughbred sires.

Morka has a remarkable combination of top class throughbred, dressage (Flemmingh) and showjumping (Cor De La Bryere, Capitano and Jasper) through her bloodlines. This combined with her quality of movement makes her an ideal producer of top class sport horses that can excel in the 3 main sports.

MORKA'S PROGENY BY MEDOC

Her foal, Margaux, was also graded "Select" into the BWBS Select Stud book at 3 yrs. In that class "the German judge, Herr Bruning, said to Horse and Hound that the mares he graded into the Select Studbook were exceptional, 'The quality of this group was better than at many German Shows. These horses are of the type that will produce top class dressage horses." (Horse & Hound). Margaux was also crowned MARE PERFORMANCE CHAMPION in 2007 by the BWBS, winning the jumping section and placed second in the dressage section.

MILANA, Morka's 2004 filly has shown great talent for eventing and completed her first events in 2009 with flying colours.
